Cahokia is several minutes southeast of the St. Louis Gateway Arch. It is the oldest town in the state of Illinois. French missionaries from Quebec founded Cahokia in 1699. The Cahokia Courthouse, was built in 1737 by Jean Baptise Saucier, and actually became the city's courthouse in 1793. Jerome Place Bed & Breakfast is a bed and breakfast where you can learn about the history of Cahokia. The Cahokia Public Library is located on Cahokia Park Drive. The Greater St Louis Air & Space Museum continues to be a Missouri charitable corporation operating in Cahokia, Illinois. The St Louis Airport is located in Cahokia as well. Cahokia High School is celebrating their 53rd year. The Cahokia Chamber of Commerce is a place to find local events and businesses.
