The Cairo Chamber of Commerce is very important in the town of Cairo, Illinois because they have all the information you need, and if you are new to the town they can tell you where everything is. It is located at 220 8th Street, and it provides visitor information and any events that are going on.
One of the historic sites in Cairo is the Custom House and you can call to schedule a tour at 618-776-5407 at anytime. In 1854 congress made Cairo a port of delivery and a surveyor of customs and collected fees after goods had passed the point of entry. That is why the Custom House is here today and it's a unique and interesting attraction.
Cairo Public Library is located at 1609 Washington Avenue and it offers a large selection of literature, periodicals and public access to the computers. This library is very nice and it has unusual antiques and artwork inside as well.
