The city of Carlyle is located just 50 miles east of downtown St. Louis and it's a great place to get away for the weekend. In the city of Carlyle they have the largest in-land lake, which is known as Carlyle Lake and it typically covers 26,000 acres depending its level. It also covers about 11,000 acres of public grounds surrounding it. Many people go to Carlyle Lake because of it's great for fishing, hunting, sailing and boating as well.

Education in the city of Carlyle is very important. The community's mission statement is that they will serve the community by helping teach students and helping them achieve higher education. The Mater Dei High School in Carlyle is Catholic and it has a wonderful academic program and is known for their achievements.

The Carlyle library is called the Case Halstead Library. It provides free access to research information and reading materials to meet all interests and also offers free internet access. This library includes books, videos for adults and children, audio books, children's books, magazines and CDs.

In the city of Carlyle they offer healthcare services at the St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital, which is located at 811 Fairfax Street. The hospital offers family health care services, physical therapy, work safety and lab services as well. There is also The Eye Clinic, which is located at 991 Fairfax Street.

Carlyle Park District has a series of camps for children throughout the summer, which is very nice because it gives them a chance to interactive with other children and participate in some fun activities. There are several parks, pavilions and playgrounds for public use.
