The city of Centralia has some great local sites and attractions to offer to everyone. The Centralia Area Historical Society Museum is really nice because you can experience the area's railroad history through vintage pictures, tools and clothing. It also has civil war items, military uniforms, ration books, flags and other artifacts. There is also the Centralia Cultural Society and you can catch a performance by the Centralia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Choral Society and the Little Theatre Players.
Within the city of Centralia they have festivals that go on throughout the year and one of them is the Balloon Fest. It is a three-day hot air balloon, which features 40 hot air balloons, entertainment, crafts, fireworks, children's activities and food. Every year there is about 40,000 visitors to attend this festival and it's held in August.
Another festival that Centralia offers is the Fall Festival and Halloween Parade and it's held in October in the downtown area. It's a full day of special events for the whole family to enjoy and it's always a good time. The other event they have going on is the Outboard Power Boat Races and its presented by the National Boat Racing Association and this event is held in July at the Raccoon Lake.
Centralia also has a unique and private park that is open to the public, Foundation Park. It has 235 acres and is open year round from dawn until 11pm daily. While you are at the park you can go hiking, ice skating, pond fishing and just walking around. Also, near the park is Lake Centralia and it covers more than 400 acres and it's great for boating and water skiing.
