In the heart of Illinois and the home of President Abe Lincoln, you will find the state capitol, Springfield. Springfield became the state capitol in 1837 with the help of a young lawyer named Abraham Lincoln. He lived in Springfield until he became the 16th president of the United States in 1861. You can visit Lincolns' Home and the Court House. The newest attraction is the Lincoln Museum and Library.

Springfield also has the historical Route 66 running thru it.

Springfield is home to two high schools. Lanphier High School, is home of the Lions. Southeast High School is home of the Spartans.
