Springfield became the state capitol in 1837 with the help of a young lawyer named Abraham Lincoln. He lived in Springfield until he became the 16th president of the United States in 1861. You can visit Lincolns' Home and the Court House. The newest attraction is the Lincoln Museum and Library.
